The match day fifteen of the 2020 edition of the Roland Garros came with some sensational displays as players’ battle for the crown in Paris goes on. Two Argentine tennis players advanced to their maiden semi-finals of a Grand Slam.

World number fourteen, Diego Schwartzman edged out third seeded Austrian, Dominic Thiem on a 7-6(1), 5-7, 6-7(6), 7-6 (5), 6-2 tie that lasted for five hours. The seed number twelve who got to his first semi-final of a Grand Slam would meet either Rafael Nadal or Jannik Sinner of the final four of the French Grand Slam.

In the women’s single, Nadia Podoroska gave Elina Svitolina a major upset, beating the third seeded Ukrainian 6-2, 6-4 . The Argentine had a breakthrough to her first semi-final in a Grand Slam. The world number 131 set a record of the first qualifier in the Open Era to break forth into the final four in the history of Roland Garros.


Podoroska will continue her struggle to bag her first Grand Slam against either Iga Swiatek or Martina Trevisan at the semi-finals of the contest.

However, Ons Jabeur’s hope to reach Grand Slam semi-final was dashed by Danille Collins on a identical three straight set, 4-6, 6-4, 4-6 it went. The American will face her compatriot Sofia Kenin at the semi- finals of the Roland Garros.
