Genk striker Cyril Dessers has expressed his delight on invitation to the Nigerian national team and can’t wait to play for the country.
The 25-year-old striker who was born in Belgium to a Nigerian mother and a Belgium was handed his first call up to the Nigerian national team Genot Rohr last month, and is currently in the teams training base in Austria ahead of the games against Algeria on 9th of October and Tunisia on 13th.
Dessers spoke to the Nigerian media team from their base in Austria and has this to say “My name is Cyril Dessers, I am 25 years and a striker for Genk in Belgium. I am so happy to have received my first call up to the Nigerian national team, I can’t wait to get to the pitch and play for the country and am looking forward to the friendly games and also the Afcon qualifiers next month.
The Belgium born striker enjoyed a prolific season in the Dutch Eredivisie division and was awarded the Top Goalscorer along Steven Berghuis with 15 goals apiece after the league was abandoned due to Covid19 outbreak. He made a total of 25 appearances for Heracles Almelo last season before joining Belgium giants Genk this summer for a fee of around €10m.
He has also defended the colours of Lokeren, NAC Brenda, FC Utrecht in the past.
