Borussia Dortmund Sporting director has come in defense for Thomas Meunier as the summer signing have been early criticize at the early embers of the season.

The 29-year-old right full back joined the Black and Yellow side on a free transfer from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain as a direct replacement for Archraf Hakimi.

The 21-year-old spent two season at the Signal Iduna park from Real Madrid, but he joined Inter Milan this summer for €40 million and signed a five-year-deal.

The 58-year-old sporting director doesn’t expects the Belgium international to be attack minded as the Moroccan, as the Belgian seem a little bit preserved in his style of play.

The former Dortmund player said in an interview with Kicker on the comparisons between Meunier and Hakimi that “It’s like comparing apples and oranges,”

He also added “Thomas does us good as a type with his stability and robustness,” 


“He’s also very clever going forward.” 

The 29-year-old has made a total of five appearances for Dortmund until now.
