Arsenal letting Emiliano Martinez leave for Aston Villa could have been a mistake according to Martin Keown who criticised Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno on BT SPORT 2.
Arsenal won 2-1 against Rapid Vienna away from home in the Europa League Group B on Thursday evening.
The Germany international goalkeeper gave the ball away inside the box , and Taxiarchis Fountas made no mistake in scoring.
“Having let Martinez go who was magnificent, you see Leno making these types of mistakes, you wonder whether they made the right call. It was a difficult night for Leno.”Martin Keown said on BT SPORT 2.
Arsenal sold Martinez to Premier League rivals Aston Villa in the summer transfer window despite the Argentine goalkeeper doing well in the final weeks of last season when Leno was injured.
Martinez was very good for Arsenal in the final weeks of last season, he was instrumental to them wining the FA cup and the Argentine is playing well for Villa at the moment.
