Manchester United were linked with RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano this summer, but the Frenchman decided extend his contract with the Bundesliga side.
According to Times, The Red Devil’s will look to bring the 22-year-old to old trafford next summer.
It is reported the clause on the 22-year-old contract is £38 million and this will be active from next summer.
The £38 million seems less expensive for a highly rated defender, the Old Trafford club could have sign the defender earlier as 2015 from French side Valenciennes for £700,000, but the English club refused to pay more than £500,000 for the defender.
The Red Devil’s manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is understood to be looking for a new defender that can partner with his captain Harry Maguire as the gaffer has lost trust in Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof.
The Norwegian is eager to see the defender go up against his club, as Manchester United will be playing Leipzig on Wednesday night in the champions league.
Speaking ahead of the game with RB Leipzig, he said: “There are always rumours and speculation about good players for Manchester United,”
“I’ve always tried to respect that they are players for other teams and don’t want to comment on every player that we are linked to.”
