Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has expressed his delight on the performance of midfielder Mason Mount during the international break for England National team.
The 21-year-old had wonderful outings for the National team during the International break and was also on the score sheet in England’s 4 – 0 win over Iceland last night.
Lampard speaking in his pre match conference ahead of Chelsea’s visit to St James Park this weekend to face Newcastle United, was questioned on Mount’s performance for England during the International break and he has this to say.
“I’m impressed with his development and I think it shows how much Gareth [Southgate] and Steve [Holland] rely on him and trust in him. I have done throughout my time in management so it’s nice to see a lot of positivity around Mason because it’s well-deserved”
“He was the only player in the England squad of all the players that are involved in Europe that played all three games but I understand Gareth’s position. The good thing about Mason is he has a great attitude, he’s a fit young man and I hope he comes through fresh because at the minute he’s in great form.”
It would be recalled that Mason Mount played under Frank Lampard in the 2018 /2019 season while he was the manager of Championship side Derby County. Mount who was then on loan from Chelsea in the Championship club was an ever present in the Derby’s team that narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier league that season.
