Nigeria striker Taiwo Awoniyi scored his first Bundesliga goal of the season for his club Union Berlin as his team went away to win FC Cologne 2-1.

The 23-year-old joined the German capital this summer on loan from English premiership side Liverpool.

The former Golden Eaglets striker made his sixth appearance of the Bundesliga season, as he was listed in the starting line up for their away trip to FC Cologne.

The first goal of the game came in at the 23 minutes as the 23-year-old capitalized from an awkward bounce from the “Billi Goat” defence to give his team the lead.

But in the 36 minutes the home side leveled the score from Tunisian midfielder Ellyes Skhiri, as it ended half time 1-1.

The away side took the lead again in 72 minutes with Max Kruse initial penalty been saved by the Billi Goat goal keeper Timo Horno but was able to score from the rebound.

The 23-year-old was subbed off in the 73 minutes while Cedric Tuchert was brought on.

The Billi Goat brought on Tolu Arokodare and Kingsley Ehizibue in the dying embers of the match so they could get at least a point in the match

The match ended eventually 2-1 in favor of the away side, as they move to fifth position in the table as they have now 15 points after eight matches.
