Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has criticised Arsenal record signing Nicholas Pepe for his unprofessional act which resulted for him to be sent off in Arsenal’s goalless draw with Leeds United on Sunday.
Ferdinand stated this in an a recent Interview with BT sports where he questioned Pepe’s attitude and not living up to the expectations on him. In his words he has this to say,
“Nicolas Pepe let you down, I don’t understand it. You’re a player who said before the break that he wants to get back into the team, that he needs his chance and he’s not happy. You get given your opportunity and you do something so stupid and get sent off.”
“It doesn’t make sense. You let your team-mates down and yourself down. I want to see Pepe do well. I saw him at Lille, beautiful footballer with skills. He needs to do it at Arsenal. The big fee brings pressure and he’s not dealing with it right now.”
It would be recalled that Nicholas was sent off at the early stages of the second half of Arsenal goalless draw with Leeds United following an off ball alteration between the Ivorian winger and Leeds United midfielder Alioski. After consultating the pitch side monitor to review the incidence the Refree issued a straight red card to Nicholas Pepe which would earn him a three game ban. It is also the first career red card of the Arsenal’s record signing.
