Arsenal’s Head Coach Mikel Arteta is of the belief that Spurs are not title contenders yet but praises the team for doing things the “right way” this season.

The first North London Derby of the season holds tomorrow as Arsenal head to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

A defeat will see the Gunners fall 11 points behind league leaders Tottenham.
So far this season Arsenal haven’t been impressive in the league as they’ve lost five out of their ten Premier League games while their rivals last tasted defeat in the opening game of the season against Everton.

Arsenal haven’t won at the ground since a one nill victory in 2014 with them losing four times and drawing twice since then.

Mikel Arteta says he’s not ignorant of the fact that Tottenham are doing well at the moment, but he opines that the Jose Mourinho led side are not title contenders yet.

“I think it’s very early in the season to see who is title contenders or not,” Arteta said. “But what you can say is what I said before is that they (Spurs) are in the position they are because they are doing things the right way.

“What we have to look at is where we will be after 38 games in the league. Now what is going to happen after Sunday, we want to be close and finish three points closer to them.”
