Everton and Super Eagles forward has confessed that Nigerians hurled abuses at them and threw stones at the Super Eagles team bus while they moved to their hotel after their disappointing draw with the Leone Stars of Seira Leone.

Sierra Leone did a massive comeback, coming from four goals down to draw 4-4 with Nigeria in the 2021 Total Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Nigeria.

The game was over before halftime after going 4-0 down in just 30 minutes, but they showed a spirited fight, the first half ended 4-1in favour of Nigeria and scoring three goals in the final 20 minutes of the game gave them a point.

A brace from Everton winger Alex Iwobi and one each from Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen had given Nigeria a wide lead until Kwame Quee found the net for Sierra Leone and the comeback started with Alhaji Kamara getting a brace and Mustapha Bundu scoring also.

“Trying to go back to the hotel, people were throwing stones at our bus.

“One cracked a window & hit a player. It was crazy. He told the club’s official website.

“I see where they were coming from, result was hurtful but we were almost physically hurt cos of it!”

He also confessed that the love Nigerians have for football is huge but pleaded that they should take it easy with them whenever results don’t go their way.

“Of course I like the passion and we want the fans to show it.

“Just don’t hurt us, please!

“Only Lord knows how they’d react if we could win a tournament.

“It is what everyone dreams of and, hopefully, we can make it a reality.”
