Dean Ashton has aired his opinion concerning the issue concerning Frank Lampard, saying he shouldn’t expect any preferential treatment from Roman Abramovich.
Ashton while on co-commentary for talkSPORT during the 2-0 defeat at Leicester on Tuesday night described Chelsea’s display as abysmal.
“I think – his body language – it’s almost as if he knows what’s coming,” Ashton said of Lampard.
“Because he knows what Chelsea’s like, he’s been a part of the club, he knows how ruthless Roman Abramovich can be.
“And rightly so, because he spends an incredible amount of money on players and he has done, he’s backed Frank Lampard with the signings.
“He’ll know that if things don’t improve very, very quickly that he won’t be— there’s not gonna be ‘mate’s rates’ as such for Frank Lampard, he’ll be out, simple as that.”
Chelsea were looking forward to make it two wins in two PL games but their expectations was cut short as Wilfred Ndidi fired Leicester ahead after just six minutes.
James Maddison made it 2-0 to the hosts four minutes before the break.
Chelsea had bulk of the possession of the ball but couldn’t translate it to a goal, they were uninspiring throughout and created few chances in the both halves.
The loss sees Chelsea sit eighth on the log after 19 games.
