Leicester City coach Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he’s banking on Ayoze Perez and Kelechi Iheanacho to fill in the void left by Vardy due to his Injury.
The 2019/2020 PL season Golden Boot winner will have a minor operation for a hernia issue, and it rules him out for some weeks (up to a month).
Jamie Vardy is set to miss the FA Cup game against Brentford, Premier League matches versus Everton, Leeds United and Fulham with the Scottish gaffer confirming that he faces ‘few weeks’ on the sidelines.
On playing without Vardy, Rodgers told reporters at Friday’s pre-match press conference : “We’ve played without Jamie before and scored and won.
“He’s contributed to the team over these past few weeks even if he hasn’t scored. When you don’t have one of the top strikers in the league, it’s always going to be disappointing. It’s not overly concerning.
“It’s our best chance of getting him back. Ayoze Perez is a natural striker. He doesn’t threaten the backline as quickly as Vardy, but he’s a great finisher. I‘ve got Kels who can offer a threat too.”
Kelechi Iheanacho has played a total of 17 games this campaign with just seven goals involvements while Ayoze Perez has played 17 games having just one goal involvement.
