Arsenal U23 goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo will be getting an opportunity to train with the Super Eagles of Nigeria this year.
Okonkwo was born in England to Nigerian parents and is eligible to play for either Nigeria or England.
He’d not be needing get a switch of nationality from FIFA has he hasn’t been capped by England at any level.
The clause attached to the 19 year-old’s possible invitation is for him to continue his steady progress with the Arsenal PL2 team and also train with senior team regularly just as he is doing presently.
“There is a spot for young goalkeepers in the team because the experiment with Maduka Okoye paid off big time. He’s now the first choice at Sparta Rotterdam, a year ago he was third choice at Fortuna Dusseldorf” a source to the Coach told owngoalnigeria.
“Okonkwo is in the list of players Rohr is monitoring and if all goes according to plan he could be in for a chance to train with the team later this year. He just needs to be consistent at the level he’s playing now and also around the first team at Arsenal”.
