American Nigeria forward Antoinette Oyedupe Payne scored in Sevilla women’s win over Eibar in the Primera Iberdola matchday 19 encounter.

The encounter had two Nigerians playing for each of the teams, Charity Adule who is a member of the Super Falcons was a second half sub for Eibar while Toni Payne started for the Seville side and got the game’s second goal.

Joaquinet opened the scoring at the stroke of halftime with the first half ending one nill in favor of Sevilla. Six minutes after restart, Tony Payne got her goal widening the visitor’s lead.

Kgatalana reduced the deficit for Eibar with her finding the back of the net on the 81st minute but Jimenez’s goal at the very end of the game killed any hope of salvaging a point.

Toni Payne was born in Birmingham, Alabama, to two Nigerian-born parents, and raised in the United States.

Payne played for the United States under-17 team, and was in the team which won the 2012 CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Championship.

From 2016 to 2018 she played with AFC Ajax. In June 2018 joined Sevilla on a one-year contract, which was extended for two further years in 2019.

In 2019 she declared her intention to continue her international career with Nigeria.
