Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain are amongst the favorites to sign Argentine forward Lionel Messi on a free from FC Barcelona if he fails to renew his contract with the Catalan side.

Former Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger has adviced the Paris Saint-Germain hierarchy not to sign Lionel Messi but focus on securing the long-term futures of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Messi’s existing contract with FC Barcelona will expire by the time the 2020/2021 season comes to an end.

The Argentina national team skipper won’t be taking a pay cut to join PSG as there are other big teams waiting to sign him, and in order to be able to afford his mammoth wages they may need to let go of either Neymar or Mbappe.

It could be said that Paris Saint Germain have one of the two best players in the world and who could possibly deliver to them their most wanted trophy someday.

Arsene sàid to beIN Sports, saying Kylian and Neymar should be their priority and not the ageing Lionel Messi.

The FIFA official was asked concerning PSG wanting to bring Messi to Parc de Princes and he said:

That is another question because Lionel Messi demands a huge investment.

“I would say PSG should be more focused on keeping their two best players and invest all the money they have in these two players.

“Mbappe is 22, the best player in the world maybe or the future best player in the world. When you have the next two best players in the world, you keep them.”
