Legendary Manchester United midfielder, Paul Scholes, has come in criticism of United’s poster boy Bruno Fernandes.
Paul believes Bruno Fernandes is not producing enough in the big games and he needs to step up.
Manchester United played out a barren draw with Chelsea at Stamford on Sunday evening and United’s wait for a win against a top six side this season continues.
The Red Devils have not been able to score from open play against any of the top sides in the premier league this term with their only goal coming from the Penalty spot versus Spurs which was about five months ago.
Scholes said he ‘couldn’t remember Fernandes doing anything’ in Man Utd’s Premier League showdown with Chelsea.
Manchester United have been shambolic for a team that wants to win the title, they’ve gotten the points from the small boys of the league but haven’t been able to crown it with some vital points against the big guns.
Man Utd’s results against the Premier League ‘Big Six’ this season:
Man Utd 1-6 Spurs
Man Utd 0-0 Chelsea
Man Utd 0-1 Arsenal
Man Utd 0-0 Man City
Liverpool 0-0 Man Utd
Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd
Chelsea 0-0 Man Utd
United have conceded seven goals and scored just once in seven games against the tops sides.
Sunday’s stalemate at Stamford Bridge means Solskjaer’s side have just taken just five points from a possible 21 against the rest of the Big Six this season and also left them trailing league leaders Manchester City by 12 points.
Since arriving Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon about a year ago, he’s been a big influence on Man United with them becoming a side to watch out for due to his match winning performances but has been criticised for failing to influence big games.
And Scholes said the playmaker was among those who needed to show more quality against Chelsea.
“They’ve got to change it, the quality has got to be better,” said Scholes.
“The big players have got to step up.
“Again Fernandes today – I can’t remember him doing anything.
“I don’t remember him creating a chance, I don’t remember him having a shot on goal.
“I don’t remember [Chelsea keeper Eduoard] Mendy, other than a couple of times, being brought into the game. So the quality is disappointing. They’ve got to get it better against these big clubs.”
