Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has backed Kai Havertz to shine as a false nine for Chelsea.
The German youngster has been a subject of criticism ever since his arrival to Stamford Bridge from Bayer Leverkusen.
He’s had torrid times under former coach Frank Lampard but since Tuchel’s arrival at the end of January he’s been improving with him starting games and getting amongst the goals.
Thomas Tuchel believes the summer signing is suitable to the number ten position and nine.
“In my opinion, this is pretty much his best position between a nine and a 10, to switch positions during the game.
“I feel confident with him in high positions.”
Pep Guardiola is a lover of the false nine role and he’s used it both at FC Barcelona and Manchester City. Recently he’s used it at City and Gundogan has been fruitful in that role.
Kai has played 27 games for the blues this season and has scored four times with two assists in the bag also.
