Super Eagles and KRC Genk striker has revealed that he was not disappointed with him being named on standby on the Super Eagles list.

The Super Eagles will conclude their 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers this month as they face Benin Republic and Lesotho on the 27th and 30th respectively.

Gernot Rohr released a 23 man list earlier in March and the red hot Paul wasn’t drafted into the list as he was placed on standby.

Onuachu’s omission actually set tounges wagging due to the fact that he’s the highest goalscoring Nigerian in Europe with 27 goals to his name.

Some believed he had failed the Eagles audition in the past and deserved to be left out while some felt his stats should guarantee him an invite.

Thankfully to a Sadiq Umar Withdrawal from the Super Eagles team by UD Almeria, Paul Onuachu got an invite.

In an exclusive interview with, Onuachu opined that he wasn’t disappointed when he didn’t get called up, because Nigeria is blessed with many great players.

“I did not feel disappointed, because I already spoke to the Coach, he called me and he told me that I’ve been amazing at my Club and he gave me reasons, which I understand because of course, we have a lot of football players all over the World.”

“The way he gave me a chance to come to prove myself against Egypt of course other players are opportune to be given the same chance. He explained that to me, which I thought was a good idea. So when he explained I told him I’ll keep working hard and he is the Coach and knows what’s best for the team; it’s your decision and I thoroughly understand why I was not on the first list.” He told
