Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, has met with Werder Bremen’s youngster Felix Agu over a potential switch of allegiance from Germany to Nigeria.

Felix Agu himself confirmed that he has spoken with Gernot Rohr and is not ruling out the option of representing his father land.

The 21 year old has two caps for the German U21 side and is also exploring the option of returning to his native home which is Nigeria.

“Yes, there has already been contact with Nigeria’s German national coach Gernot Rohr, said the 21-year-old full-back in an interview with “Deichstube”.

” After my first appointment for a national team, the U21s, I first decided on Germany because I wanted to stay in my familiar environment. That felt better, but it wasn’t a decision against Nigeria. “

Agu is born to a Nigerian father, but was given birth to in Osnabruk of Germany.
His boyhood team was VfL Osnabrück, and that was where he began his career since he was a kid.
He however earned his first national call up for the German U21 national team for the first time in 2019 but missed out on the chance to be a part of the squad at the ongoing U21 European Championship.

“I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the boys, I know almost all of them. Of course I’m also a bit disappointed not to be there, »said Agu. «I had already figured out something, especially since I recently played a lot in the Bundesliga. Maybe it was because I missed the last two courses. It is possible that Stefan Kuntz thought that he would rather take the players with him who have established themselves. “
