Germany and Chelsea striker Timo Werner has been given a North Macedonian identity card after his horrible miss for Germany last night.

The former world champions lost at home to the 65th ranked team in the world.

With the scores level at 1-1 with 10 minutes remaining, Ilkay Gundogan put the ball on the plate for Werner with the goal gaping. However, Timo somehow managed to scuff the ball wide.

Eljif Elmas scored the winner five minutes after Timo missed the chance to put Germany ahead, and secure a memorable win for North Macedonia in Duisburg.

As if the embarrassment of missing such a golden opportunity wasn’t enough, media in Macedonia have trolled Werner by giving him his own identity card.

SID mocked up the document, complete with his name, date of birth, headshot and signature in a tongue-in-cheek gesture for him helping the country seal one of its greatest ever results.

Reacting to Timo Werner’s miss , German coach Joachim Low said: “He should have put that ball away, no question at all.

“He has shown here he can score goals.

“But he doesn’t hit the ball right with his left foot, if he makes a clean contact with the ball it’s a goal.”

Armenia tops the group with 9points, North Macedonia and Germany have 6points each from 3 games.
