There’s uncertainty as regards David’s Manchester United future due to Oe Gunnar Solksjaer not affirming him as the first choice.
The 30-year-old has seen his no 1 spot fly away after he went on a short trip to Spain in other to witness his wife’s child bearing.
While De Gea was away, England International Dean Henderson stepped up in his absence.
The Spanish shot-stopper however returned to the team from Spain during the international break but watched on from the bench as the Red Devils defeated Brighton and Holve Albion 2-1 at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.
Reports have it that his relationship with Solskjaeris also in shambles due to Henderson’s run as the Red Devils’ No 1.
De Gea’s bumper deal with United runs till 2023 and the former Athletico de Madrid Maan earns a staggering £375,000 per week.
The Daily Mail reports that a return to Atletico Madrid is on the cards for David.
Sir Alex Ferguson signed De Gea from the Los Roji Blancos in 2011 for £18.9m.
He’s also been linked with Real Madrid for the third time in history after two failed moves to the Spanish capital.
French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be waiting for the summer in other for them to start negotiating with the club and the player himself.
The four time United Player of the Year has a £40m price tag.
Solskjaer however cleared the air on speculation surrounding De Gea as he explained why Henderson started ahead of him in the win over Brighton.
The 48-year-old Norwegian told BT Sport: “I’ve got two very, very good goalkeepers.
“Two No 1s, simple as. Two No 1s and that’s it.”
