Manchester City were awarded a penalty in their return leg fixture against Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund.

Pep Guardiola’s men went into the game as favourites, having won the first leg 2-1, but found themselves trailing after the first 45min.

Dortmund held on under immense City pressure into the second half but in the 55th minute, Emre Can was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box.

The former Liverpool midfielder headed the ball onto his outstretched arm, which didn’t seem to mean a penalty according to the letter of the law, but VAR still gave.

Fans on Twitter were not happy with the penalty being awarded, especially once Riyad Mahrez scored from the spot kick.
