The Inaugural Basketball Africa League tips-off on Sunday, with two heavyweights from Rwanda and Nigeria locking horns in the first game.

The competition which was scheduled to take place last year, suffered postponement no thanks to the emergence of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

At exactly 2:00 PM GMT, home side Patriots will face Rivers Hoopers, as both teams look to make history.

Nigerian side, Rivers Hoopers were part of the first team to arrive, Kigali Rwanda. They Qualified for the competition after clinching the NBBF President Cup in Nigeria, blowing-out oppositions.

The Kingsmen bolstered their ranks, adding D’Tigers international, Ben Uzoh, Ugandan international Robinson Opong, Taren Sullivan and Chris Daniels to the team.

Patriots on the other hand, were created 10 years ago for veterans who wants to keep fit, the story has since changed, as they are now a top team when it comes to Basketball in Rwanda.

With both teams coming to the tournament with thier own history, one major goal, is having a respectable finish. For some Rwandan fans, a respectable finish could a Semi-final berth, Nigerians believe Hoopers have the quality to shock opposition, and at least make the podium.

Basketball Africa League is a FIBA/NBA backed competition, this is the first time the NBA will back a professional league outside North America.
