Sparta Rotterdam technical director, Henk van Stee, has revealed that the club wants Maduka Okoye for one more season as they know he’s on the radar of european heavyweights.
Okoye made Eredivisie’s team of the season as he was named the best goalkeeper in the Dutch top-flight league after having ten shut outs sheets in 24 games for the Castle Lords.
The Rotterdam based side are aware that the chances of keeping their Poster Boy is a low one but the club wants an arrangement where they get to have the Super Eagles goalie on a season long loan from his new employer.
“I know that a number of clubs are following him,” admits Van Stee, as per Rijnmond.
“Okoye would very much like to stay. It would of course be fantastic if we could sell him and then rent Okoye for a year, but I am not thinking about that yet.”
Okoye’s heroics ensured Henk Fraser’s men finish 8th on the Eredivisie table, with them making the Europa League playoffs where they slug it out with Feyenoord.
