There has been a scare at the home of Real Madrid, Santiago Bernabeu as a small fire started on Wednesday afternoon, with smoke emanating from one of the roofing columns being put in place.

The Galacticos have been away from their home ground for some time, playing most home games at the afredo de Stefano stadium, usually reserved for the club’s youth and reserve sides.

Club president Florentino Perez gave the approval to works including a retractable roof and a huge 360 degree video screen, which cost around £500m.

Fans and neighbours took photos and recorded footage at Real Madrid’s home ground, which was shared widely on social media. Firefighters reacted quickly to the incident to bring it under control.
