D’Tigers of Nigeria has been drawn against Mali, Kenya and Ivory Coast in the draws made on Friday afternoon ahead of 2021 Afrobasket Championship.

The 2015 champion will be hoping to claim the chip for the second time in history, as they face hurdles against two-time champion Ivory Coast, 1972 bronze medallist Mali and a Kenyan side that will be in the tournament for the first time ever, after sealing a dramatic 74-73 against 11-time champion Angola in the final game of the qualifiers.

D’Tigers of Nigeria who will be at Tokyo 2020 Olympics this year, played against fellow group c counterparts Mali during the qualifiers, a game which they won 56-76. The Nigerian national team had smooth ride during the qualifiers recording 6 wins with no loss, with a +102.

Defending champions Tunisia are locked in Group B alongside, Egypt, Guinea and Central Africa Republic.

The 2021 Afrobasket Championship will be held in Kigali, Rwanda (Where the BAL is ongoing) from 24 August to 5 September.
