Ex – Super Eagles star Victor Ikpeba has encouraged Romelu Lukaku to continue his football with Inter Milan and turn deaf ears to the transfer talks linking him back to Chelsea.

The 28-year-old striker has been heavily linked to making a return to the London club following his sterling performances since joining the Italian side in 2019 from Manchester United.

The Belgian forward impressive goal contribution record; scoring 35 goals with 11 assists in 49 appearances in all competitions in the just completed campaign coupled with his pivotal role in guiding Inter Milan to their first Scudetto title in a decade all sum up to why the European Champion are keen to bring him back to Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku, who spent three years in Chelsea after joining from Anderlecht in 2011 has grown to become one of the best attackers in Europe and Thomas Tuchel sees him as the key man to boost his attacking force.

But the 1994 AFCON winner has urged the striker not to leave San Siro for Chelsea as this can undermine his attacking prowess due to strikers inability to notch goals for the London side.

Speaking on Supersport Monday Night Football show, Ikpeba stated thus:

“I have my reservations, Lukaku has done well with Inter Milan, why not stick with Inter Milan, he’s getting used to Italian football.”

“Coming back to Chelsea we all know how strikers do labour to score goals in Chelsea, especially the manner they play.

“If he doesn’t get the ball often, the crosses, I am worried about Lukaku returning if he comes back to Chelsea.

“Is he coming because of money? Sometimes we have to look at those areas.

“He has been outstanding since he left Manchester United to Inter Milan, they just won the Serie A which is great for him and he just lost his manager, Conte who has left the club.

“There’s a lot of speculation but if he really wants to do what players want to do, go out there and be successful with another club, why not? But it’s going to be a massive challenge for Lukaku.”
