As preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics intensifies, D’Tigress of Nigeria are set to face one of the most successful women’s national teams in the world, Spain in a friendly game on Thursday, Ojbsports can confirm.

After the completion of training in Belgium, another grade A friendly games have lined-up against two heavyweights, current European Champions Spain, and Belgium.

The number one ranked team in Africa won two of the three games played in Kotrijk, Belgium, beating Puerto Rico and Serbia before falling like a pack of cards to Belgium in the final warm up. Spain on the other hand suffered consecutive loss to France.

The D’Tigress of Nigeria have been preparing profusely for the Olympics knowing fully well that they are locked in one of the toughest group of the tournament, group c, where Host nation Japan, defending champions United States and heavyweights France are locked in.

There has been debate about Nigeria ability to make it through to the next round due to oppositions they will have to navigate, but with top friendlies like these, they should be ready to take on the world.

The last time Nigeria Female Basketball team was at the Olympics was back in 2004 where they finished 11th out of the 12th teams that participated, but reacting to the teams target, Landerneau Bretagne star Ezinne Kalu, says a podium finish is the target.

“Our goal is 1st, 2nd or 3rd, Gold, Silver or Bronze either one”.

The friendly game against Spain will be played on Thursday (today) 8pm Nigerian time
