Outgoing Bayern Munich manager Hansi Dieter Flick has stated in his farewell interview with the club that Joshua Kimmich possesses the wherewithal to become the world’s best player.

The recently appointed German coach posited in his last interview with Bayern Munich that German sensation Kimmich has the potential to claim the Ballon d’or in so far as he fulfils certain preconditions. The preconditions been that the 26-year-old needs to improve his ability in order to thread the right path that will enable him achieve his extraordinary ambition.

“I think if he manages to channel his extraordinary ambition a little better and steers it in the right direction, then he can become the world’s best player,” Flick told 51, the official Bayern Munich magazine.

“He’s already a world-class player in several positions but he can take another step – and I hope he does.”

Joshua Kimmich — who rose through the ranks from VFB Stuttgart to establish himself as an integral part of Bayern team — had 14-goal contributions (4 goals and 10 assists) in the 2020/21 season to raise his tally to 30 goals and 71 assists for the German giants.

The ever-versatile midfielder who has featured in several positions on the pitch ranging from a full-back to a central midfielder — played an indispensable role in helping Bayern clinch the Bundesliga title for the ninth time in a row and a treble in the covid-hit 2019/20 campaign.

The dynamism of the Bayern star is to the extent that he his gifted with great speed, very swift ball movement and passes, exceptional ball recovery and ability to win both aerial and ground duels. In addition to this, he always have an eye for goals and this is manifested in his high level of shot power and accuracy.

These qualities the German midfielder possess are however a pointer to the fact that Hansi Flick statement is not just a mere puff, and can indeed see the light of day in some days to come.
