Portland Trail Blazers star man Damian Lillard will probably be disappointed as Lakers assistant coach, Jason Kidd has ruled out any possibility of becoming PTB coach.
It will be recalled that Damian Lillard endorsed Jason Skids to be the next coach.
This move was made not long after the parted ways with Terry Stotts.
In a chat with Chris Haynes, Damian Lillard said ”Jason Kidd is the guy I want.”
It has now been confirmed that Kidd has withdrawn his name from consideration for Portland’s head coaching vacancy.
”Portland’s a first-class organization and will have great candidates…but I’ve decided not to be one of them,” Kidd said via ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Many don’t know why Kidd withdrew his name, especially after Damian Lillard had endorsed him. But an authority in the NBA Adrian Wojnarowski reported that, Lillard’s “Jason Kidd is the guy I want” left Kidd feeling he would put both Lillard and Portland’s process in an awkward circumstance should he pursue the opening.
Responding to the reason why he turned down a move to Portland, Skids says.
”Whoever they choose will have big shoes to fill from Terry (Stotts)” Kidd said via ESPN and Wojnarowski.
Whatever the reason may be for Kidd’s withdrawing his name from Portland’s wishlist Portland Trail Blazers have plenty of options to choose from, including Lillard’s other choice, Clippers assistant Billups.
The talk of making history is in line as Spurs Assistant coach, Becky Hammon, could be the first NBA female head coach of PTB appoints her.
Perhaps the Blazers could make history and name Spurs assistant Becky Hammon coach, making her the NBA’s first female head coach.
We may know in the coming months, or weeks which direction the Blazers decide to go. Perhaps what Vescey said is true and his “Portland person” is a reliable source and knows something
