Super Falcons goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi has expressed her dismay over her team 1-0 defeat to Jamaica in the First encounter of their international friendly tagged the Summer-Series.

The Reggae Girls of Jamaica rode their luck in a 1-0 victory against the Super Falcons of Nigeria, much thanks to Daneisha Blackwood’s 51st minute goal that made the difference in the encounter at BBVA stadium in Houston, United State.

With seconds after Nigeria’s goal by Ijeoma Okoronkwo was disallowed for offside, Blackwood who has earlier had her poor penalty kick saved by Oluehi broke the deadlocke in a keenly contested encounter. The Houston Dash defender did no mess of a cut back pass by Brown and struck the ball into the upper left corner with a left-footed shot from eight yards out.

In a game where the Super Falcons performance was riddled with awful communication and profligacy in attack after missing couple of chances in the opening half to put the game to bed, Oluehi believes that the team will learn from their mistake and bounce back in their next encounter against Portugal.

“We’ve seen the other game, we have to go back home and correct our mistake to make sure we win against Portugal.”

The Spanish based shotstopper even made known her dissatisfaction about her individual self having conceded a rather cheap goal in the contest.

“After doing my best, I conceded a silly goal, I was not happy but I did my best.”

She however recognized the fact that the team’s defense are filled with new legs who will integrate well into the squad as time passes on.

“I will give the defenders 50 percent, they did well. Most of them are new in the team and with time they will be better.”

Having tasted defeat for the first time, Randy Waldrum’s side continues their US Summer Series tournament when they take on Portugal on Sunday 13th June at BBVA stadium before making a visit to Austin to face reigning world champions USA on Wednesday 16th June, 2021.
