As reconstruction of the Lekan Salami stadium in the Ibadan continues Nigeria Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick has heaped praises on the Oyo State government for a “Magnificent” job done on the pitch so far.

The FIFA executive member well accompanied by the Governor of Oyo State Engineer Seyi Makinde, walked round the stadium checking the facilities, VAR, Design etc.

Pinnick was thrilled with what he saw calling the Lekan Salami stadium a replica of “Allianz Arena” ( The home ground for Bundesliga side Bayern Munich). Pinnick further said, the work done on the stadium is a sign of growth in the country’s Football.

” I was wowed when the Honourable Governor of Oyo State His Excellency Engineer Seyi Makinde took me round the magnificent work going on at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan recently.

“Apart from the design that resemble the Allianz Stadium the home pitch of Bayern Munich in Germany. The hospitality
box of the stadium is one of its kind among the stadiums in Nigeria. This stadium is a sign of growth and development for our local clubs because this define how serious we took our football in Nigeria.

“From Benin City, Lagos, Asaba, Port Harcourt,
Kaduna, Aba, Yenagoa, Ikenne, Katsina and now Ibadan. Next stops MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja, National Stadium Lagos, Awka Township Stadium, Awka. Slowly and surely by His Grace our sports facilities are meeting our club licencing goals and standards.”

As things stands when works on the Lekan Salami stadium are done, it will host numerous international matches, featuring games of the Super Eagles of Nigeria a lot more.
