As the Tokyo 2020 Olympics draw close, Nigerian star, Ike Iroegbu has expressed his elation to having a coach like Mike Brown as the head coach of the team.
The Golden State Warriors assistant manager invited 49 players to camp in California as he prepares to lead the D’Tigers of Nigeria to the Olympics in about four weeks time. In a ZOOM chat with Kenny Bamidele, Iroegbu revealed that the team is so happy to have Mike Brown, having worked with the likes of Lebron James, late Kobe Bryant, Steph Curry and other stars. Iroegbu further posited that Brown’s wealth of experience can help the team do well, when the Basketball event of the Olympics starts.
“We’re happy to have a coach like Mike Brown who has coached some of the best players to touch the basketball, like Lebron, KD, Klay, Thompson, Kobe, DG and Steph, we have guy that have seen the best of the best dude, it always great to pick his brain and see what he sees as a coach and get his feedbacks to see how you can improve as player”.
The future of Nigeria Basketball looks bright with the array of stars and talented guys excelling in their various leagues across the globe. The aforementioned former LA Clippers guard believes “The sky’s the limit”.
It will be recalled that Ike Iroegbu averaged 13.2 Point Per Game during the Afrobasket qualifiers, helping D’Tigers qualify for the Championship with ease and will be looking to do better when the Olympics tip off.
