Stefan Effenberg has claimed that England are the easiest opponents Germany will face so far in Euro 2020 ahead of their round of 16 clash in Wembley .

He also believes that Germany have been underestimated in their Euro 2020 campaign so far.

Germany were defeated 1-0 in their opening Group F clash against France before they bounced back with a stunning 4-2 win over Portugal .

Joachim Low’s side fought hard to secure a 2-2 draw against a resilient Hungary, which ensured Germany second place in Group F behind France .

Speaking ahead of the England match, former Germany international Effenberg claimed his country clashed with “incredibly difficult opponents” so far.
The 52-year-old told German TV channel
Sport1 .

“I think England will be our easiest opponents so far.

“In the group, we had world champions France, European champions Portugal and Hungary as incredibly difficult opponents. We survived it.”

Effenberg also claimed that the England attack force around Harry Kane has not appeared at all.

“The English have not yet really had an impact on the tournament and the attack around Harry Kane — which distinguishes them — has not appeared at all,the former Borussia Monchengladbach star said.

“So, I’m sure we will win the game. The pressure is on the English. You play at home. Even if it’s a young team, they are expected to win the title.”
