Anglo Nigerian goalkeeper, Arthur Okonkwo, has been offered a long term contract extension by his London side Arsenal football club.

The hghly-rated Okonkwo made the match day squad for the senior team back in March 2021 when he was named amongst the substitutes for the Europa League last 16 second leg game against Olympiacos.

Mikel Arteta is a lover of the goalkeeper with Nigerian descents and he won’t hesitate to make him the third choice goalkeeper ahead Icelandic international Alex Runarsson who will likely to go out on loan.

If he accepts the five year contract, he’s is expected to decide either to go out on loan to championship or league one team to enjoy first team football on a regular basis and also gain experience.

Karl Hein who mostly took the third GK spot for the last campaign has one year left on his contract and talks over a renewal haven’t been smooth so it definitely paves the way for Okonkwo.

The 20 year old was born to Nigerian parents in London and is eligible to play for the super eagles of Nigeria and the three lions of England.

Later or sooner we could see the Arsenal prodigy in the Nigerian team as it is reported that Gernot Rohr is willing to try what he did with Maduka Okoye with other young goalies.
