Nigerian striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, is on his way to Merseyside to join the Liverpool team for their pre season training.
Awoniyi who was granted work permit about a month ago by the British goverment is joining the Liverpool squad for trainings ahead of the new campaign.
The 2013 U-17 FIFA World Cup winner signed for Liverpool football club on August 31st, 2015 for a fee of around £400,000 but was immediately loaned out to FSV Frankfurt.
Taiwo has previously been sent out on loan to the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany by Liverpool, though the Nigerian would’ve preffered to stay in England but he had no work permit.
The Ilorin born signed a contract extension with Liverpool in 2018 which expires in 2023.
Taiwo’s experience in playing in of Europe’s top five leagues enhanced his work permit as one of the laws say players 18 or above playing regularly in Europe’s top 5 leagues are almost guaranteed a work permit.
With Liverpool set to part ways with Divock Origi, the Imperial Soccer Academy prodduct may be on liverpool’s teamsheet come next season.
The 23 year old scored five goals and bagged three assists in 21 league apperances for Union Berlin during the last campaign.
Awoniyi would be either be playing for Liverpool in the premier league next season or join another PL team on loan to garner experience before looking to displace Roberto Firminio as the first choice striker.
