Former Chelsea and France international Nicolas Anelka has advised Kylian Mbappe to leave Paris Saint-Germain if he wants to win the Ballon d’Or.

Kylian Mbappe who had a disappointing Euro 2020 after failing to record a single goal in the tournament and also had his penalty saved which led to France exit L in the world of football.

Anelka opined that it is implausible to to compete with players who are frontrunners in the game when playing in the French Ligue 1 instead of bigger leagues like the English Premier League and Spanish La Liga. Speaking to the Athletic, Anelka expressed his thoughts on Mbappe in the following words:

“If you want the biggest accolades, you will have to move from PSG at some point.

“Whatever you will do in Paris will be good but somebody will always say, ‘Well, you did great for PSG but it was only in France. The best leagues are in England and Spain, so you didn’t compete with the best players in the best league.”

“You will have to decide. If you want to win the Ballon d’Or, which is what you should be looking at to echo Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, you will have to compete with the best.”

“You can’t say you compete with the best all the time when you are at PSG. The French league is not easy, don’t get me wrong, but I think the toughest league is in England.”

Kylian Mbappe’s individual brilliance was made manifested once again last season after he netted 42 goals in 47 appearances for PSG, though was not sufficient to secure them the League crown. The French winger however has a season left on his contract with PSG and his thus open to negotiation with other clubs upon the expiration of his contract.
