The hope of moving onto greener pastures may be truncated with Racing Genk’s manager John van den Brom insisting that it is not certain that Paul Onuachu will leave the Belgian outfit this summer.

Paul had a fantastic 2020/2021 season with the Blue and Whites as he scooped three awards at the season’s award ceremony namely; the Golden Boot and Pro League Player of the Year awards as well as the Ebony Shoe.

Premier league sides West Ham United and Brighton & Hove are being touted to sign the Nigerian international as they’ve both submitted offers.

However, with his staggering performance the club has set his release clause to €30m.

The FC Ebedi product is amongst two potential outgoings with Colombian international Jhon Lucumi also being hunted by European clubs.

John van den Brom was quoted by voetbalnieuws.be saying it’s going to be nice to keep the group together.

“I hope that we will still be without leavers on September 1. It would be very nice if we could keep this core together.

“It is not certain that Lucumi and Onuachu will definitely leave, but for the time being they are still at Genk.

“They are the two players we said are likely to leave, but that doesn’t mean they’re leaving the club anyway.”

FC Midtjylland sold Onuachu to the Belgian Cup winners in the summer of 2019 and ever since then he has bagged 45 goals in 69 appearances.
