Crystal Palace have made their first signing of the season as they confirm the £8 million signing of teenage star Michael Olise from Reading Football Club.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder becomes the first signing of newly appointed manager Patrick Viera who joined the club a week ago.

Crystal Palace has since a long time monitored the progress of the exiting Reading player Michael Olise who had a sterling campaign last season in the EFL Championships bagging 7 goals and twelve assists that earned him the EFL Young Player of the Season award and also a place in the Championship Team of the Season as well as the PFA’s Championship Team of the Year.

In a conversation with the Eagles media, Olise whose talent has earlier attracted interests from other clubs as Liverpool, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain expressed his delight on being a part of the Premier League club saying:

“It’s a big moment – Premier League football. It’s a great club and I’m very excited to be here. Good players, a good manager, so I’m ready to start.”

The manager Patrick Viera commented on the arrival of the youngster to Selhurst Park in these words:

“We have the tools in our football club to make him a better player, and we’ve known him quite well because he’s a player the football club have been following for a long time.

“I think it is important to refresh the squad, to bring some new faces, to bring young talent here, and this is a really good signing for us.”

The former Chelsea and Manchester City academy player made his first team debut for Reading in March 2019 and has since then been an integral part of the Championship outfit.
