The Gaffer of the Nigeria Senior National Minifootball team, The Spartans Eagles, Fabian Edaba, has promised to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians by winning the African Cup of Nations Minifootball trophy.

Coach Fabian as he’s fondly called, told that the only thing left now after making it to the quarter finals from a deadly group is not only to get to the final, but to win the second edition trophy for Nigeria.

According to him, “After our first draw and the lost in the second match, I told my boys we cannot disappoint Nigerians and the boys gave good account of themselves, giving me confidence which made us scaled through. And since we have qualified for the quarter finals, the trophy is for us. I believe the trophy is for us; I’m assuring Nigerians the trophy is for us.”

The host Nation of this year’s Mini-football Nations Cup , Nigeria got their first win of the tournament after a hard fought victory over Zambia.

Kabiru Adeniyi Scored the first hat trick in the 9th, 13th and 45th minutes via freekick, via a shot via from a tight angle and a simple tap in from an assist from the Captain of the side Tope Orelope respectively.

Musondg Zulu got a brace for Zambia to end the encounter, 3-2 in favour of Nigeria.

Nigeria, the host Nation now have 4 points in 3 games and Zambian are yet to get a single point after 2 games.

In other matches played on Monday, Ivory Coast 1 Burkina Faso 0 and an already qualified Egypt thrashed Somalia 6-0 with Egypt’s Adel Mohammed getting the second hat trick of the competition thus far after Nigeria’s Kabiru Adeniyi got his earlier on.

Only one match will be played today and it will be by 5:30pm between an already qualified Libya against Zambia.
