KRC Genk have registered in signing Chelsea owned Anglo-Nigerian forward Ike Ugbo as a replacement for fellow Nigerian Paul Onuachu who is poised to leave the smurfs this summer.

It’s not certain wether Paul will leave the Belgian Cup winners this summer but it’s very possible and they’ve gone into the market to identify a potential successor.

The lanky forward had a fantastic 2020/2021 season with KRC Genk with him having won the Ebony Shoe award, Best Player Of The Season and Golden Boot.

However he is a subject of tussle between European modest sides namely; Sevilla, Lazio, West Ham, and Lyon.

Olympique Lyon have seen their opening bid rejected and they’d return with witha more significant offer for the FC Ebedi product.

It’s worthy of note that Super Eagles one time invitee Cyriel Dessers is still at the club and he believes he can fill the boots of Onuachu when he leaves as he’s a proven goal scorer.

VoetbalPrimeur reports that Genk have picked Chelsea-owned Ugbo who is also of Nigerian descent as Onuachu’s replacement.

The 23-year-old who has applied for a switch of allegiance in other to play for Nigeria instead of England spent the last campaign at Cercle Brugge temporarily with him netting 16 league goals to help the side beat the drop..

Chelsea are unwilling to let the talented attacker go on a free and will look to cash in on him this summer, with Besiktas, Dutch giants PSV and Feyeenord reportedly keen on the Nigerian.
