Bordeaux new club owner Gerard Lopez is prepared to downsize the club squad for financial reasons and has earmarked Nigerian duo Samuel Kalu and Joshua Oluwaseun Maja among the potential players to see the exit door at the Ligue 1 club.
The French outfit has been faced with financial setbacks in recent time and the erstwhile Lille owner as resulted in laying off the high wage players including Kalu and Maja provided there are no suitable suitors to lure the players out of the Ligue 1 club.
23-year-old Kalu has failed to hit his stride at Bordeaux since joining the club from Belgian side Genk in 2018 after he has managed only 5 goals in 45 appearances in 3 seasons. Injury crises and struggle for fitness been a key factor hindering his performance rate in the past years.
Josh Maja have also threaded the path of Kalu as he has a diminutive profile to show off upon signing a four-and-half-years contract with Bordeaux in 2019, finding the back of the net 9 times in 45 outings for the club. Maja, who recently made a loan move to his boyhood club Fulham at the winter in 2021 is on course alongside Kalu to part ways with Bordeaux.
