Thus, football clubs where the deceased plied his trade during his lifetime such as Bordeaux FC, Nantes FC, Caen and Chamois Niort have consented to organized the ” Challenge Emiliano Sala” as an annual tournament in honour of the iconic footballer.

Nigerian international Moses Simon, Samuel Kalu, and Josh Maja are set to lock horns in the Challenge Emiliano Sala tournament when their respective teams go head-to-head in pursuit of the gong.

Samuel Kalu featured all through the nineties for French side Bordeaux FC as they won 5-4 on penalties over French counterpart Chamois Niort in the maiden game of competition — a victory that secured them a place in the final.

Moses Simon’s Nantes will play against Caen today, 14:00(WAT) in a tournament consisting of four teams to book a spot in the final round against qualified Bordeaux FC.

Emiliano Sala who spent half a decade with Bordeaux from 2010 – 2015, though spending loan term at Orleans in 2012/13 season and Niort in 2013/14 campaign with a combine 37 goals for both teams.
