Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi has left Liverpool football club on a permanent basis this summer with a move to Union Berlin being touted.

English journalist Neil Jones, revealed that Awoniyi will complete a £6.5 million move to German Bundlesliga side Union Berlin.

He says that the fee has been agreed earlier in the week and the medical took place this Tuesday.

Liverpool will receive 10% from the transfer fee of the Nigerian if he moves on from Union Berlin later in the future.

The 23 year-old spent last season on loan at Union Berlin in which he scored five goals in 22 league appearances to help the Berlin based side secure qualification to the maiden edition of UEFA Europa Conference League.

Taiwo joined the Reds from Imperial Academy in 2015 after the FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand but couldn’t play for Liverpool due to him lacking the necessary work permit..

Since joining the 2020 premier league champions, he has spent seasons no loan at German second division side FSV Frankfurt, Dutch club NEC Nijmegen and Belgian duo Mouscron and Gent as well as Bundesliga side Mainz.
