Jamie Carragher has hit out at Gini Wijnaldum after the midfielder said that he ‘didn’t feel loved and appreciated’ by Liverpool supporters before joining PSG .

The Netherlands star left Anfield on a free transfer this summer following months of speculation, joining Mauricio Pochettino’s side in their quest to top Ligue 1 and taste European glory.

The 30-year-old has now spoken openly about his move, and hinted that social media criticism played a big role in his decision to leave Jurgen Klopp’s side

Sky Sports pundit Carragher has since hit back with a brutal assessment on Twitter – claiming that Wijnaldum left the Premier League because he didn’t get the wages he wanted.

The former England defender said: “I love Gini but this is not right, social media is a circus & every club has clowns. Turn off your notifications & if it’s bothering you that much delete the app!

“He wanted more money the club said no, that’s football!”

That view was been hit with a mixed response online, with many praising Wijnaldum for his efforts in a Liverpool shirt over the past five seasons.
