Edem Offiong who is Nigeria’s Highest ranked table tennis player has clinched a clean 4-1(11-8,11-9,11-9,9-11,11-4) win over Dora Madarasz of Hungary to progress into the round 2 of the women’s singles.

Edem Offiong begin Tokyo Olympics with a convincing win, same day legendary Olufunke Oshonaike was beaten by Jaum Liu of United States.

It is Nigeria’s first win at the Olympics and the first from any African player in the table tennis event
