French Ligue 1 side Nantes FC has joined in the race to sign Crotone’s forward Simy Nwankwo, according to reports from France.

The 29 year-old has been linked with various moves recently, amongst them are Serie A clubs including Genoa, Sampdoria, Udinese and Premier League’s Tottenham Hotspur.

Simy who became the first African to score 20 league goals in the Italian Serie A last season, since Samuel Eto’o scored 21 goals for Inter Milan in the 2010/2011 campaign, is also Nigeria’s all-time top scorer in the Italian top-flight, overtaking Obafemi Martins.

It’s the second consecutive season the Onitsha born lanky forward reached the 20-goal mark after hitting the same number in the Serie B in the 2019/2020 season to help Crotone secure promotion back to Serie A.

If the reports coming from Nantes are true, Simy Nwankwo will team up with Nantes FC player of the season for 2019/2020 Moses Simon.
