Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland is optimistic that the German club will have “an even better season,” despite the departure of Jadon Sancho to Manchester United.

Jadon Sancho — who registered 38 goals and 45 assists in 104 Bundesliga appearances for Borussia Dortmund — is ranked among the top in the league for goal involvement since becoming a team starter in 2018/19 season.

With the departure of Sancho who created 7 assists for Haaland last season, the Norwegian striker is confident the likes of Gio Reyna, Marco Reus, Thorgan Hazard, Raphael Guerreiro and Julian Brandt can step into the creative void.

Club captain Marco Reus, American teenager Gio Reyna, Belgium international Thorgan Hazard, Portuguese international Raphael Guerreirro and Germany’s Julian Brandt played a part in Haaland’s 27-goal haul in the Bundesliga last season and believes he can form a formidable partnership with the players to attain a higher feat that eclipse the one attained in the time Jadon Sancho.

“Jadon and I had a really good understanding, he’s a top player and it’s sad he’s gone, but that’s football,” Haaland said from Dortmund’s pre-season training camp.”

“There are a number of other players I work well with. It can even be better. We’ll just have to see who I work best with.”

Haaland’s future at Dortmund remains hanging in the air as he his heavily linked with a move to Chelsea. The German club expects the striker to remain at the club for at least a season more and are unwilling to lower their €150m price valuation for Haaland as a means to wade of potential suitors like the London club.
