Nigerian Striker,Paul Onuachu started off from where he stopped last season as he inspired Genk to a 2-1 win over Kortrijk.
The 27-year-old was on target for the second consecutive game as Genk won their first match of the 2021/2022 campaign.
Onuachu scored his first goal of the season in Genk’s loss to Shakhtar Donetsk in a Champions League third-round qualifier on Wednesday.
He continued his goalscoring form on Saturday night, as his side picked up the three points .
Genk went into the game at the Guldensporen Stadion with no wins in four games in all competitions this season.
Kortrijk went into the break with the lead, courtesy of a strike from Teddy Chevalier in the 18th minute.
However, Onuachu goal brought the away side back on level terms in the 52nd minutes Courtesy of an assist from Mike Tresor.
The Nigerian forward was a threat to Kortrijk’s defenders and could’ve scored another, but his effort was saved by Marko Ilić.
He was substituted three minutes from time for his international teammate, Cyriel Dessers.
Tresor provided his second assist of the day late into the game for Daniel Munoz to fire home a 92nd-minute winner for Genk .
Paul Onuachu emerged as the Top goal scorer and won the Jupiler Pro League Professional Footballer of the Year award last season .
He scored 33 goals and provided five assists in 38 league appearances as Genk finished third last season .
