The reigning European champions Chelsea FC defeated Villarreal by 6-5 on penalty shootout

The match ended 1-1 after extra time before it went down into penalty shootout where Chelsea outcast goal keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga became the hero by saving two spot kicks.

Kepa Arrizabalaga denied Villarreal captain Raul Albiol.

Thomas Tuchel tactical switch paid off as he substitute Edouard Mendy for Kepa in less than a minute before the end of extra time.
